Hello Kitty Fofucha - Hair bow tutorial

I am happy to be offering my first free tutorial on my blog. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
You will need the following:
Iron, foam sheets (black & white), piece of fabric, scissors, 1.5"(half) polystyrene ball, glue gun, foam mold
(Can be purchased here. If mold not available, please email me for a pre-order. fofuchasdolls@gmail.com)
Cut a square piece of foam and iron it (cotton setting for about 5-10 seconds). Make sure you cover your foam sheet with a piece of fabric.
Foam will curl - turn over and place it into the mold. Gently press down the mold to obtain shape.

Remove sheet from mold and cut And glue onto the polystyrene ball.
(use only small amounts of hot glue)

Cut small strip for the whiskers.
Draw in eyes with a sharpie. Also draw nose.

Cut a white strip of foam and make a small ribbon

Glue strip around the head to cover any polystyrene. Glue hair bow.

The school year has begun! I am looking forward to another fun school year with my children. But I am also looking forward
to all the fun gifts I will be making their teachers!

Happy Birthday Sunshine!

I have been playing some more with structural elements and I wanted to make a birthday sign over this cute fofucha doll. I cut out clouds, background and sun. Gave it a nice 3d effect. She was so easy to doll up with her curly hair and pattern dress. She is available and ready to ship. Check out her out in my Etsy shop.

Ninja Turtle Power!

Living in a home strongly dominated by women has not helped with the collection of wall decor for boys. Luckily, I do get some occasional requests for boys. I was lucky to create this Ninja Turtle for an Etsy customer. I wasn't even aware on how the Ninja turtles had been redesigned. They definitely look more like superheros than the original turtles but from what I gather they are still fans of pizza and that's a plus in my book! ;) Enjoy! This item is available in my Etsy shop.

Cupcake, Cake or Centerpieces! One Sweet Fofucha

I have been playing around with letters and finding ways to incorporate the fofucha into lovely party decor. As I added the details I simply had to put some balloons on her as well. She is not to tall just about 11.5 inches tall. She can perfectly adorn a cake or even be a centerpiece for cupcakes. Now she looks yummy!

Patrick - Spongebob's friend

Last weekend I was part of an Etsy trade event. This trade event was exciting because you got to trade your handcrafted items with other crafters! I couldn't resist a few things so I traded this amusing Partick for a knitted cowl. Enjoy!

Minnie Mouse 3d Wall Decor

Minnie Mouse was another delight to create. She was thermoformed to give her a 3D look. The flowers are as well. Thermoformed is applying heat to mold and shape. This technique allows the foamie to not look flat. Ribbon and paint were added as well to embellish and for additional dimension. Happy Crafting!

Girl Monkey Craft Foam

Girl monkey handcrafted in foam was a real treat to make. I wanted to embellish this project a bit more so I made a palm tree and leaves to add once again more dimension to the project. Perfectly pleased! Enjoy.

Oh Hello Kitty!

This was a true blast to create and to know that is a gift for my niece makes it even more special. I embellised with flowers and I wanted to try a new font and I love the choice I made! This new font makes it wonderful to give it the 3d effect. Enjoy!

For a very special little boy.

My good friend's son is 4 years old and fighting Neuroblastoma Stage 4. Daniel's favorite is character Mario Bros. I wanted to make something special for Daniel since he recently celebrated his 4th birthday and I am so pleased with the result. Once again all it took was a little patience and lots love! Spring is here and birthday celebrations!

Beauiful time of the year when spring showers pour and  flowers boom! This month my girls and I have had quite a few birthday parties to attend. I enjoy making handcrafted gifts. There is some about crafting that adds anything you create a special touch, meaning and connection. I was inspired to create this lovely wall decor to two very different but very special little ladies. I have to say I felt like a little girl myself! Enjoy.

The endless ways to use a Fofucha

So as my creative juices continue to flow I saw a pretty headband holder and I quickly saw a fofucha on it. This was truly easy! The only things truly needed were tons of ribbon. I decided to make an orange Laloopsy Fofucha and embellished with grosgrain ribbon ( which I have a complete love with too!) This headband holder is available on my Etsy Shop. http://www.etsy.com/shop/FofuchasDolls . Enjoy!

The word "Fofucha"

Entering the world of Fofuchas

A couple years ago my daughter received a gift from her grandmother. It looked handcrafted and of course very cute. I said to myself, "I can make this." But with lack of time and everything else I decided to just display it. The doll was made out of foamie but the foamie was 3 dimensional not flat so I was left wondering. Last month the doll caught my eye again and I said, "hmmm, it's time for a challenge." I knew this doll was from South America I just had to pin point some type of instruction so I can run with it. Luckily, I stumbled onto the instructions in Spanish or Portuguese. Speaking the language has helped of course to better understand the craft and technique. I must say I have a new passion! I have started with hair barrettes but I am ready to move on to a full size doll, so come back often because the fofucha journey has just begun!
